I was recently asked by my Relief Society presidency to decorate the bulletin boards in our meeting room. At the time, they were "decorated" with some hastily hung ribbons (with multi-colored push pins) and a few random fliers. This was a challenge I was more than happy to accept.
Our stake theme for 2012 is "Connecting Ourselves to the Temple," and I wanted to bring that focus to the members of the Relief Society every week with visual displays. I covered the cork board with a beautifully patterned fabric of teals, blues, black, white and grey (thank you Hobby Lobby), and added my printables in black and white frames (thank you Dollar Tree) to help add some dimension. In the corners I included some homemade fabric flowers (thank you Pinterest for the inspiration) of various colors and patterns. After it was all in place, I stood back and thought, "Eh...at least it's better than the ribbon." :)
I thought I would share a few of the printables with you today, along with my goals for connecting myself to the temple.
I love to attend the temple, and my husband and I have committed to going as a couple at least once a month. I am also going to try to attend as often as I can by myself–I'm shooting for twice a month. I want to think of the temple every day and remember the blessings that are in my life because of the covenants I have made there. I plan to have a display of the temple in every room in my house (all I need is the laundry room, my husband's man cave, and the kitchen) so that I can be reminded that my home should be as peaceful and holy as the temple. I also would like to spend 2 hours every week doing indexing (they have a great new iPhone app here) to help me be more genealogy focused.
What are your goals for connecting yourself to the temple?
