Standing for Something

I'm a girl who believes in high standards. I'm a girl who believes that I don't need to follow the ways of the world to be happy. Did I always live up to my high standards? No. I wish I would have been much stronger and more independent, but at least I have learned from my mistakes!

I love today's quote: "If you don't stand for something, then you'll fall for anything." I have seen this over and over again in many aspects of my life. I cannot be swayed if I have a conviction of something, whether that be a diet, a standard, a belief, etc. It is so important that we as individuals and families stand for things that are good and right and then we will not fall for the temptations and deceptions that are offered in the world.

President Gordon B. Hinckley understood the importance of this quote, and even wrote a book called Standing for Something: 10 Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes. He says in this book, "People who carry in their hearts a strong conviction concerning the living reality of the Almighty and their accountability to Him for what they do with their lives are far less likely to become enmeshed in problems that inevitably weaken society."

So, what do you stand for? How has it helped you avoid falling for something that is wrong?
