Truly Have a "Merry" Christmas

I made another Christmas printable and it got me wondering about being "merry." The verses that I remembered from the scriptures with the word "merry" were never ones that made me feel like I was being righteous. So I took some time to look up "merry" in the topical guide and I was happy to find some beautiful scriptures about being merry. Here are my two favorites:

James 5:13 says, "Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms."

D&C 136:28 says, "If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving."

I love the D&C scripture, especially for the Christmas season. Even in the hardest of times, each of us has a reason to be merry and praise the Lord. We have our lives to be grateful for, our families or friends, or our good health. We can sing and dance and carol our hearts out in honor of Christ the King, whose birth we celebrate.

I hope that each of you has a MERRY Christmas this year, and a MERRY Christmas season!

What are you merry about this Christmas?
