Good Wishes to You, My Friends

Hello dear friends. I had a follower request a printable for this summer's girls camp in her stake. She downloaded my "Be Loyal to the Royal Within You" printable for the campers (click here to get one for yourself!) and wanted something else to go with the stake theme. The theme is "May All Your Dreams Come True" and I love it! What a great idea! I know the girls in her stake will love it.

I send that same good wish to all of you visitors today: I hope all of YOUR dreams come true! I hope that your life is a fairy tale.

My favorite scripture pretty much outlines how this is possible. Mosiah 2:41 says, "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it." Here's the breakdown: If we keep the commandments of God, ALL of our dreams will come true. If we want to be happy, we need to keep the commandments of God. As difficult as that may be on some days, the reward is so worth it; that reward is never-ending happiness in the presence of God.

Follow Christ {¡Con Printable en Español!}

So I was looking through my phone the other day and saw a note that I had completely forgotten about. Last year I went to a devotional with my husband and heard our prophet, Thomas S. Monson, speak to a large group of students. His message, as always, was inspiring and focused on the Savior. He quoted a beautiful message from former prophet President Ezra Taft Benson that I absolutely loved: "When you choose to follow Christ, you choose to be changed." He also said, "The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature. . . , and changed men and women can change the world."

I believe in Christ, and believe that through Him we can truly be changed. I saw it over and over again on my mission: the most unhappy, the poorest, or the most forlorn people became the most happy, rich in blessings, and joyous people. I've seen the Atonement change my life and make me a better person, because I have chosen to follow Christ. Because of choosing to follow Christ, I am raising my daughter to do the same, and hopefully she'll teach others to also walk in the footsteps of the Master.

How has following Christ changed you?

What are you planning to do to celebrate Father's Day?

Idea #1:
"Fathers are the guardians of virtue." This quote was adapted from an amazing talk given by Elaine S. Dalton in the October 2011 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints entitled "Love Her Mother." Sister Dalton expounded on how important it is for the fathers of the world to help raise a righteous daughter by loving her mother. She also shared that fathers should be the guardians of their daughters, not only from physical harm, but from spiritual dangers. I loved this talk so much and felt so inspired by her wisdom and counsel. My husband was especially touched also, because we were expecting our first baby girl! {By the way, he has come through as an excellent guardian of virtue...so far his motto is that "our baby can't date until she is married."}

Idea #2:
"A father's calling is eternal, and its importance transcends time. It is a calling for both time and eternity." This was part of a talk given by Ezra Taft Benson entitled "To the Fathers in Israel." What a powerful statement! His purpose was to direct fathers of the world to recognize that although callings and work obligations may arise, the most important work they can be doing is within the walls of their own homes...with their children.
